Is the Bible Teaching Us Truth?

The question is, what does the bible mean in a particular passage? And so there can be questions about, like, was jonah actually swallowed by a whale? Or is thit or a fish? And is the text trying to teach us something else? This episode is an illustration of that. If you're dealing with jesus's parables, they're teaching spiritual truths rather than historical ones. But if you're in the gospels and you step out of jesus parables and you're reading stories about jesus, they are not only teaching spiritual truths, they are also teaching historical ones about JESUS.
