The Confusion at the US Border
The Biden administration has put in place a new policy restricting asylum. Under US immigration law, if somebody arrives on US soil and expresses a fear of persecution in their home country, then they have the right to seek asylum in the United States. The way that process starts is they have to express a fear of basically being deported to their home country. And asylum protects people who are facing persecution on the basis of their religion, their political beliefs, their membership in a particular social group.
