In iceland, for example, we are working a lot to remove stigma from the survivors of gender base violence over to the perpetrators. And there's a really interesting case right now that's going to the european court of human rights, where a number of women in iceland are actually suing the icelandstate for not looking after their cases properly enough when it comes to tions of domestic violence or sexual assault. But obviously, as long as we have any gender base violence, we're not going to be able to achieve general quality. So we have to remain vigilant to reduce these numbers and to improve the situation.
'Sprakkar' is an ancient Icelandic word meaning extraordinary or outstanding women. Rosamund Urwin from the Sunday Times joins Eliza to discuss the book, which tells the stories of Iceland’s women and also the country’s efforts to elevate them while striving for increased gender equality.
