Effects of Methylphenidate and Amphetamines on ADHD Symptoms
This chapter discusses the results of a study comparing the effects of different doses of methylphenidate and amphetamines on adults with ADHD. It is found that higher doses of both stimulants are associated with larger treatment benefits compared to placebo. However, the benefits of amphetamines plateau above 35 milligrams per day, while the benefits of methylphenidate continue to increase with higher doses.
