In his new book, "Capital by Marks," Julian Zelizer argues that Marx's analysis of class is rooted in production. He says we have to get away from what he calls the surfaceof the economy: exchange and market prices. We have to actually go into production to see the source of profits, which is the brutal exploitation of workers, writes Zelizer.
