Sayers' BBC radio play, The Man Born to Be King, was scandalous when it was first broadcast in 1939. Christian groups staged protests and took out advertisements against Sayers Project. She wanted people to feel the incarnation, the idea of God taking on human flesh as a shocking thing. As for the other things in the Jesus story that we sometimes miss, things that emphasize his humanity, he was a tech-tone.
