Archbishop of Canterbury, Thomas Becket
Henry was pulled into a conflict with the church over the question of who had the authority to try and punish members of the clergy. The dispute goes on for several years, until the archbishop dies. Henry then appoints thomas beckett to his place. Anda is at his royal court with knights all round him, and he's complaining about becket. He cries out, will no one rid me of this turbulent priest? So three knights of his court take this as an indication,. go down to canterbury, find becket there at prayer, and kill him by decapitation. They claim that they are doing so on the king's request.
