The End of Religious Life Is Charity
The end of religious life is charity. It's love to give yourself away. Pre-work requisite is to have enough like self position, possession to be able to give yourself up 100%. But also of course there's this false sense of a freedom in our culture that is like a kind of like radical license and like to do anything. That has to be reconciled with the lifestyle of obedience that these guys are being entered into. And so you see a guy who maybe seems healthy, but then he doesn't have any real ability to let anybody in. He's just lacking this interior freedom to what? Own his suffering, own his weakness.
