There's another powerful practice that you mention for a pair design, which is this pattern called comman query separation. That's an idea from bertron maya, which goes back to the middle of the 19 eighties. He thought it would be a good idea to distinguish between two types of operations eal and he called the other one queries. If you want to produce data, then produce data. Don't mix them. Separate those two things as belonging to the same class.
