The Health of Loop Quantum Gravity

The key problem that loop quantum gravity has had to face is we have a microscopic picture of the structure of quantum geometry at the Planck scale, which is 20 orders of magnitude smaller than an atom. How does the space time that we see around us emerge from that quantum picture? And there's been a lot of progress to answering those questions in the last five, ten years. So it's very healthy as a theoretical research program. But I no longer believe in taking the equations of quantum gravity and applying them to the universe as a whole. Because time disappears when you do that and I think the time is fundamental.
