For the stoics, it's not contemplation to cut yourself off from what you can't prevent happening. The idea of solitude itself wasn't a very strong idea in the early, early part of the ancient world. For aristotle, that you dimonic life a life of happiness. But on the other side, one can be lonely in the midst of company.
