The Balcony Scene of the Hotel De Ville, July 30 First, 1830

This was the second time lafayette had preserved the monarchy with a dramatic balcony scene. The first you'll remember was the women's march on versailles in october 17 89. This secured, lafayette gave the entire project his dramatic blessing by grabbing a tri color flag and leading orleans out on to the balcony of the hotel de ville. For these critics, the balcony scene is further proof that lafayette was either a dunce, a chump or a two faced hypocrite.
