The Evolution of Smells
I love the evolution of things acquiring smells, because it seems like so counterintuitive. I can't speak about durian in an objective manner, because my family loves it and I truly, I love it. The bacteria that causes staphylococcus is dampening your immune system by enough to just be able to live in your nostrils for a little bit longer. So theoretically evolved to smell nicely. Bypass some of your immune system. Gosh. Sneaky. Although there's like, you know, plants that smell nice so they can be just wise.
