Pain is a way of the genes coercing us. A person who doesn't feel pain behaves in inappropriate ways that the genes wouldn't like. I would not want to take an AGI and put in it any time they think about not obeying humans, they feel intense pain equivalent to a kidney stone. If you could somehow do that, I don't even know if that would be physically possible or not. It's so specific. Not even the genes seem to be able to do that.
