I want to get more into the Markov blankets, but I don't want to quite let go of this transition from living in the moment to living in the expected future. My personal theory is that it's with cats. The ability to plan suddenly means you have now a space of trajectories, causes of actions in the future. So there's a selection process in play, which must in some sense speak to the free will or at least if it doesn't depending upon your attitudes to free will.
