The innernet looked like it was going to tear down the walls of authoritarian societies, says David Sanger. But while you were asleep, every dictator who wanted to go figure out how to use internet for nefarious purposes came up with ways to exploit it - and we got wire fraud. The most amazing thing is that this was surprising to us. Ben franklin invented the post office, and we got mail fraud. And alexander graam bell invented the telephone, and we get wire fraud.
