Is MATLAB a Good Alternative to Bash or Excel?

MATLAB can be very good when you're doing very complex things. It can simulate discrete or even bits of electronics if you want it to. But a lot of the stuff they do is just analyzing the, how many times a tire heats up during a lap and what window of temperature it sits in. The job was basically just to work with the vehicle science department to make a few Python scripts effectively.
