The Jable Stakes was written in 1942 by Francis Tuka, friend of the show. Major General, the Charger, summed up his military dog role on Alamein. For me it is the nadir of the British Army in the Second World War in the West. And before we can do triumph, we've got to do a little bit of disaster.
