The character of esau is very much in the background there, but in ways that are commenting upon the story in genesis. Andich really holds our reading, i think, in good stead. I find that certainly helpful. Ad, that seems to be a really rich, intertextual re reading of the story of genesisye and helps to characterize all the figures within it.
