The Importance of Religion in My Life
I grew up in Iran to what I like to sometimes refer to as a mixed family of lukewarm Muslims and exuberant atheists. We came from a family that was sort of culturally religious, the way so many families are around the world. And despite the fact that I never had any kind of religious upbringing or spiritual edification in my household, I was always a deeply religious, religiously interested and spiritually thirsting kid. In high school he went to an evangelical youth camp with some friends; there heard the gospel story for the very first time. It was absolutely transformative.
