In the 30s, I think things go in a way that is not sanctioned or anticipated by the modernists. For one thing, the left is embraced instead of democracy and the left being rejected. The whole new approach to the mass, which is mass observation, which is political, completely unlike modernism. So I think there's a radical change, and that modernism acts to be breaks and something else comes.
