I mean one if you're a global citizen you're lucky to have a salary. Most people do not. If you do have a salary most people regardless of how high or low that is are living paycheck to paycheck and not growing their wealth over time. So the idea that you would have to take unpaid leave be worried about being fired hurting your career losing your rent or not making your mortgage or not be because you had to go take care of your father's life like that's at a time you're grieving. I think in the US it's probably a bit easier than in Singapore for example but we have a lot of things around how we treat people basically all based on our previous working lives
