WhatsApp's Key Transparency Solution
The biggest successful deployments used to be certificate transparency. For end-to-end encryption, I don't know if any other system has deployed a key transparency solution anywhere close to the scale that WhatsApp is trying to achieve. And that's not even including how many multi-device keys those users have and how often those keys get rotated because these phones fall in the ocean or the toilet all the time.
