Brahasvati's Mind Is a Manifestation of the Body

The ablative case in Sanskrit can mean several things. One idea was to say that mind is only the manifestation of processes going on at the physical level, with those physical processes carrying all the explanatory weight. Other Charvakas duly held that the mind is a distinct power which emerges from the combination of material elements without being identical to them. T.H. Huxley proposed that mental phenomena could be just a kind of byproduct of physical phenomena.
