How Do You Measure a Swarm of Honeybees?
Scientists were shocked to register an electrical charge build up on swarming bees. The strength of this electric field is comparable to the kinds of changes in an electric field you see during thunderstorms. When these bees are on their own, we know already that they do carry a small amount of electric charge,. This actually helps them do things like pollination and allows pollen to jump from a flower onto a bee without contact even being made.
