The History of the Game Engine at Sierra Online
The game engine was invented almost 10 years earlier by Sierra Online, or the thing that we would recognize as a game engine. It was what was known as Sierra's Adventure Game interpreter. And it was the development system that they built to create King's Quest and then became the sort of template for game creation at Sierra.
