What Is Executive Dysfunction?

Executive functions are a set of cognitive abilities that are responsible for planning, organizing, initiating and monitoring goal directed behavior. They are important for day to day functioning but often impaired in individuals with certain neurological conditions like attention deficit hyperactivity disorder or traumatic brain injury.
