How Does Comedy Work?
Comedy works the way it does between friends, is it operates on trust. When you say something outrageous to one of your friends, they trust you. They know whether you mean it or not. If you don't trust a dead pancomic, they'll never make you laugh. That's why you have 'outrageous comedians', because they're trusted with that. It means that there's a surprise coming.
