The Rise of the Hittite Empire

The Hittite Kingdom was slowly developing and consolidating itself over the peoples in its immediate arc of reach. The Assyrians remained a small independent kingdom after reclaiming its sovereignty after Hammurabi's death. This would mark the beginnings of the Hittite Empire who would master the ability to work iron something that had not been done before. It does appear that there was a bit of a drop in temperatures possibly exacerbated by volcanic eruptions of Mediterranean lands. Is it the real reason? I don't truly know but I definitely felt that it was worth a mention.
