The population of France was cut in half through the 13 Andrids. The traditional structure of society was collapsing under the weight of a nearly apocalyptic mortality rate. When one takes into account the incalculable amount of suffering and untold misery caused by the hundred years war, it's very easy to get cynical. But if nothing else has an interesting thought experiment, it's worth considering that everything that has made French culture unique may have not existed at the English won the 100 years war.
