Is There a Hierarchy?
It's interesting that it's the only hierarchy that you will necessarily grow out of. Everyone who isn't at all was a child at one point. And it's like the social construct that we put onto children growing into adults then sort of becomes the metaphor for how hierarchical society looks at all these different things. It's so naturalized to view condescending, disrespectful treatment as being something normal to give to a child and not normal within adult relationships. But in practice also, it's worth noting like people tend to think of this as natural.
