The Nostalgia of Ronald Reagan
Ronald Reagan was one of the last serious big time Republican politicians who thought it was really important to persuade people. His politics was Aristotelian in the sense that it was about coalitions. He told stories that people regardless of their ideological or partisan profile could appreciate, relate to, and be sympathetic with. The Democratic Party is so much less about telling stories and more about ranking people about how we are pure and they are evil.
