Is Elrond Hubbard Really a Magician?
Elrond Hubbard was the only sci-fi writer at these meetings who had also studied the works of Alistair Crowley. He already had a deep understanding of the material in the same way Parsons did. The difference though, was that while Parsons was a true believer who just wanted to make something happen, Hubbard was more cynical and looked at magic as another resource to extract and use no matter the consequence. It's like finding someone who likes your favorite band just as much as you do for all the same reasons.
