Is There a Payoff for Being Honest?
At Google, there's no real payoff for being honest. If you care about the person, the honesty can help that person get better and address weaknesses. And if you're not being honest, then that sort of sets people up to fail long term. We have this review process right like this is one of the things in the media article that I could identify with at Microsoft where in an attempt to avoid too much managerial power or like, you know, there's someone over you that has total authority over your career.
