Joe Methany's Story

After the death of his father, Joe's mother Jean lost interest in her six children. She would send them off to stay with friends and family under a kind of casual foster care system. But Jean tells a very different story - she says they were well looked after at all times. In 1973, aged 18, Methany joined the US Army for a year. After his return he claimed to have done a tour of Vietnam. And this time in Vietnam became a big part of Joe Methany's identity.
