The Importance of Walking to School

When I turn 9 my parents finally let me start walking to school. My best friend lived next door and that meant that we could walk to school and back together every day. There was a liquor store along the way that we would stop at on the way home to get some snacks and candies but only on Friday. It was our little treat and the thing we look forward to at the end of the week. We thought he was just being nice so we happily obliged. As I talked to the cashier my friend stayed behind me. She grabbed my arm hard after I paid and practically pulled me out of the store.
