The Importance of Prayer in Prison
In Acts we see moments when Peter and John are in prison for preaching the gospel. They get released from it and they go to a prayer meeting where everyone is asking, Lord, please deliver them. For somebody who deserves to be in jail, I'm not going to pray to be spared the punishment. So that speaks to the prayer part of the verse. Then would you describe the sin leading unto death as something like Azah? It was certainly common in the first century world. And there is a sin that leads to death and to pray that the penalty would be omitted.
