The Effects of Childhood Trauma on Psychiatry
The DSM notes that the symptoms of schizophrenia correlate with the severity of adverse childhood experiences. Childhood trauma can permanently alter neurochemistry and it may be that the sudden and traumatic abandonment by Lena's father was the catalyst for her issues. And to make matters worse, trauma and psychological woundedness can be exploited by demons as they attempt to make their way into our lives.
