If we are willing to accept, for example, that event x happened in the first century on the basis of certain evidential considerations, then we turn right around and say, well, even though there is even better evidence than that for the resurrection of christ, sorry, we can't go along with it. Then we are insisting on a special standard of evidence when it comes to religious matters that we don't require when it come to secular matters. And that is hardly justified, unless you already know that religious matters can't be proven, except at a higher level.
