The fact of the entity affecting you is what makes it what it is in the world. It's not like the star that twinkles in the sky is unreal, is fake, and the star that blazes out in space is real. They are both real and they are both aspects of one entity which can affect you in multiple ways. Just as your senses can be deceived, your spiritual perception, your wisdom, your intuition can also be deceived.
