We Live in a Culture of Contempt
The level of vitriol with anybody who would dare to have a different opinion on anything from transgenderism to tax reform was staggering. Experts all tell us that bigotry and racism arise from the same place in the human heart. With contempt, you don't need to right the wrongs with anger where you need to go do justice or flee the scene as with fear and disgust. Stories about the moral failings of others are among the most common kinds of gossip. They offer a ready way for people to show what they-that they share a common moral orientation.
