Around two thousand greenday was in trouble. The general consensus was that they had played out their string. So instead of being dropped by their label or breaking up, Greenday were encouraged to make another album. But then one day the man went back into the studio and everything was gone. Were the master recordings stolen? Had someone erased them? Was it an accident? Was this theft? Was it sabotage? All the mixes were rough. And really the only way to salvage anything was to start again. That turned out to be the best thing ever happened to them.
