The Gospel's Shock of Grace
This poem by Herbert made a tremendous impact on the French mystic and philosopher Seymour Vay. It opens with Christ Jesus' love incarnate inviting a struggling sinner to come to his house as a guest and eat with him. Amazing how in just a few lines the gospel's shock of grace can find such clear expression. No one who reads or hears this work being read can fail to be impressed.
