China is trying to become more self-sufficient, but it's still very dependent on energy imports. The communist party doesn't like large scale financial luminaries in the system who are not simply instruments of the party,. And then there has been an ideological push towards greater income equality and against obvious displays of wealth on the part of the china's omtribonereal class. All this ultimately impacts on growth drivers, population, workforce participation, productivity growth.
