The Science of the World
Think of our senses as being like flags in the wind. Each neuron, and we have two billion of them, responds to the openness of the world. And it's on the basis of those things that we then intervene in the world. How does that work? Well, I'm going to give you a metaphor. Imagine for a moment you're in an underground bunker and you've never experienced the wind. You're nowhere near the wind. It's got the wind something else altogether. That's how we should think of our senses functioning.
