Group a Streptococcal Tonsillitis

Recurrent tonsillitis can occur and it's defined as five or more episodes in one year. Penicillin is the first line agent for group A strep oral pharyngeal infections. Other tests such as anti streptolycin O and anti-deoxyribulonuclease B can be used when post streptococcal complications are suspected like rheumatic fever or glomerulonephritis.
