The History of Marriage
The concept of two human beings deciding to live together because they like each other is a pretty old thing and it's changed a lot over the course of culture. Most human relationships throughout history have been more or less monogamous if not serially monogamous meaning that you have one partner at a time even if you have multiple partners about your life. If you love somebody you should want them to be happy and how horribly miserable to be trapped in a relationship with someone who doesn't want to be with you or that you don't wants to be with them.
