Last semester, we had a tomistic circles in this very room on the search for life in the cosmos. Christopher Frey gave a paper on Aristotle on the impossibility of defining life. I think his point was that life is said in different ways of different things. And what does that require us then to say about life? Maybe that isn't really helpful for talking about Descartes.
