When Audra was nine, her parents suggested she try out for a theater group in Fresno. "I just, I felt things very deeply as a kid," says the singer-songwriter. She would run away from school and scream at other kids on the playground because they didn't like her due to her black skin. The energy there that clearly existed led them to put her in this theater group when she was 9.
