The History of Spotify

Spotify was founded in 2006 by two men, Daniel Eck and Martin Lawrenceon. There's a Netflix dramatized series about the kind of founding of Spotify called The Playlist. In the piece, I sort of say there's a key turning point of development of Spotify that follows a few years later in the early 2010s where there's this move towards music recommendation. By far the biggest chunk of their spending has been on paying royalties to artists and labels.
